Huma’s Homemade Strawberry Preserves/Jam without preservatives ✨💕👩🍳 I swear you will never buy store bought jam after this . Promise ! Lol
- 2 kgs fresh strawberries 🍓 |
- 1.5 cup sugar or stevia (sugar free substitute) |
- 1/2 lemon 🍋 |
- Mason jars or lid tight glass containers for storing |
Instructions:- |
1. Wash and hull all the strawberries. Cut all of the strawberries into smaller pieces and divide into two equal portions. |
2. Place half of the strawberries in a large pot with the sugar and the few drops of juice of lemon. Stir well to combine and let it sit for about 1 hour to macerate. |
3. After macerating, bring the strawberry mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally. |
4. Once boiling, lower the heat and simmer for about 30-40 minutes until the strawberries are soft and the mixture thickens. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. |
5. While the jam is cooking, sterilize the mason jars by placing them in boiling water for 15 minutes. This step is very important as it helps eliminate all bacteria and will help preserve your jam for 3-4 weeks without the need for any preservatives 💡 |
6. After the initial cooking, add the other half of the strawberries and the juice of left over lemon. Cook for an additional 15-20 minutes, stirring gently to keep some pieces visible and vibrant. |
7. Test the jam's consistency by placing a small amount on a chilled plate. If it sets and wrinkles when touched, it's ready. |
8. Remove the pot from the heat and let it cool slightly. |
9. Carefully transfer the hot jam into the sterilized mason jars using a ladle or a funnel, leaving a little space at the top. |
10. Seal the jars tightly and let them cool completely before storing in the refrigerator. The jam can be kept for several weeks or longer if properly sealed and stored in a cool, dark place. |
Enjoy your homemade strawberry preserves with toasted bread, paratha or whipped cream for a quick sweet delight ❤️🥰🍓 |
