Weekend binjing ✨💕👩🍳🥰 Huma’s Kunafa with khoya and pistachios.
- 1 package of kunafa dough (or shredded phyllo dough). You can take regular Sivaiyyein also. |
1 cup ghee, melted |
- 2 cups of khoya (reduced milk solids) |
- 1 cup crushed pistachios |
- 1 cup sugar |
- 1 cup water |
- 1 tablespoon rose water |
- 1 tablespoon orange blossom water or lemon juice |
- few strands of saffron |
Instructions:- |
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). |
2. Grease a baking pan with some of the melted ghee. |
3. In a bowl, mix the khoya and crushed pistachios together. |
4. Layer half of the kunafa dough in the bottom of the pan. |
5. Spread the khoya and pistachio mixture evenly on top. |
6. Add the remaining kunafa dough on top of the filling. |
7. Pour the rest of the melted ghee over the kunafa. |
8. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-40 minutes or until golden brown. |
9. While the kunafa is baking, make the sugar syrup by boiling the sugar and water until the sugar dissolves. |
10. Stir in the rose water and orange blossom water into the syrup. Add few strands of saffron. |
11. Once the kunafa is done, pour the sugar syrup evenly over it. |
12. Allow the kunafa to cool slightly before serving. |
