- 4 cups whole wheat flour ( regular chapati aata) |
- 1 packet dry active yeast |
- 1 1/2 cups warm water |
- 1/4 cup honey |
- 1/4 cup olive oil |
- 1 tsp salt |
- White butter for serving (maska) |
-mix seeds for topping (optional) |
-1 egg for coating (whisked) |
Instructions:- |
1. In a bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water with a pinch of sugar and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy. |
2. Add honey, olive oil, and salt to the yeast mixture. |
3. Gradually mix in the whole wheat flour until the dough comes together. |
4. Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. |
5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours until doubled in size. |
6. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. |
7. Shape each portion into a bun and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or on a muffin tray. Brush it with whisk egg and mixed seeds. |
8. Cover the buns and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes. |
9. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). |
10. Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. |
11. Serve warm with white butter. |
