Instead of the popcorn I tried using chivda or poha and I must say it turned out just the same taste but with an Indian twist !! Packed these delightful Holiday treat for my lovely neighbors 🥰
-4 cups dry poha or chivda |
-1 cup peanuts |
-1/2 cup cashews |
-1/2 cup almonds |
-1 cup gur or brown sugar |
-1 stick or 1 cup butter (preferably unsalted) - we will use this butter three times in the recipe ! |
-2 slabs of plain Dairy milk chocolate |
Instructions:- |
1. In a shallow pan add some butter and dry roast the poha until you smell it nice roasted stirring constantly on medium heat. Keep aside in a separate plate ! |
2. In another shallow pan add butter again and dry roast the peanuts, cashews and almonds. Keep aside in a separate plate ! |
3. Now in the same pan add remaining butter and pour the gur or brown sugar stirring constantly until it becomes bubbly and sticky. Turn the heat off and quickly add the roasted poha and dry fruits in this caramel and stir. It will start to dry ! |
4. In a tray spread the caramel poha and tap nicely so it combines further. |
5. Now break the dairy milk chocolate pieces and melt in microwave directly or on top of hot water in a pan stirring constantly until it’s fully melted. |
6. Pour the melted chocolate on top of the caramel poha and let it cool on room temperature. When it’s little bit cooled off mix it with a spoon. This will evenly distribute the chocolate on the entire poha. |
7. Refrigerate for 30 min so it binds itself even more. Break with hands. Your super crunchy, caramel chocolate chivda is ready ! Enjoy as a tea time snack or at movie nights. |
You can store this in a container or 2-3 weeks without refrigerating !! ✨👩🍳 |
