Huma's Proper Wala Chilly Chicken

Are all men finicky eaters ? Apparently in my life….”ALWAYS” been the case and still is …🙄 Made my abba’s favorite “Proper wala chilly chicken”. As the loving man clearly indicated in the past .. “Banana hai tou proper wala banao warna zaroorat nhi with a serious scowl on his perfection oriented face … 😨😧 And he stood by my side all along to make sure I’m not skipping any authentic step….

Ingredients:-
- 500g boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Oil for frying
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 4-5 green chilies, slit
- 4-5 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 cup chicken stock or water
- Spring onions for garnish

Instructions:-
1. In a bowl, marinate the chicken with soy sauce, vinegar, cornstarch, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let it marinate for about 30 minutes.
2. Heat oil in a pan for frying. Once hot, fry the marinated chicken pieces until they are golden and crispy. Drain them on paper towels and set aside.
3. In another pan, heat some oil and sauté the minced garlic and grated ginger until fragrant.
4. Add sliced onions, bell peppers, and green chilies. Stir-fry on high heat for a few minutes until they are slightly cooked but still crunchy.
5. Add soy sauce, chili sauce, tomato ketchup, sugar, and chicken stock or water. Mix well and let it come to a simmer.
6. Add the fried chicken to the pan and toss everything together until the chicken is well coated with the sauce.
7. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend.
8. Garnish with chopped spring onions and serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.
