Are all men finicky eaters ? Apparently in my life….”ALWAYS” been the case and still is …🙄 Made my abba’s favorite “Proper wala chilly chicken”. As the loving man clearly indicated in the past .. “Banana hai tou proper wala banao warna zaroorat nhi with a serious scowl on his perfection oriented face … 😨😧 And he stood by my side all along to make sure I’m not skipping any authentic step….
- 500g boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces |
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce |
- 1 tablespoon vinegar |
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch |
- 1 egg |
- Salt and pepper to taste |
- Oil for frying |
- 1 onion, sliced |
- 1 bell pepper, sliced |
- 4-5 green chilies, slit |
- 4-5 cloves of garlic, minced |
- 1-inch piece of ginger, grated |
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce |
- 1 tablespoon chili sauce |
- 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup |
- 1 teaspoon sugar |
- 1/2 cup chicken stock or water |
- Spring onions for garnish |
Instructions:- |
1. In a bowl, marinate the chicken with soy sauce, vinegar, cornstarch, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let it marinate for about 30 minutes. |
2. Heat oil in a pan for frying. Once hot, fry the marinated chicken pieces until they are golden and crispy. Drain them on paper towels and set aside. |
3. In another pan, heat some oil and sauté the minced garlic and grated ginger until fragrant. |
4. Add sliced onions, bell peppers, and green chilies. Stir-fry on high heat for a few minutes until they are slightly cooked but still crunchy. |
5. Add soy sauce, chili sauce, tomato ketchup, sugar, and chicken stock or water. Mix well and let it come to a simmer. |
6. Add the fried chicken to the pan and toss everything together until the chicken is well coated with the sauce. |
7. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend. |
8. Garnish with chopped spring onions and serve hot with steamed rice or noodles. |
